This coffee comes to us from Gihanga Coffee Company, located in the Kamonyi District of Rwanda's Southern Province. Founded in 2020, their name “Gihanga” honors a Rwandan cultural hero celebrated for founding the Kingdom of Rwanda. Gihanga Coffee’s state-of-the-art washing facilities processed this Rwandan Red Bourbon grown by over 3,000 smallholder farmers, resulting in a coffee that is true to Rwanda’s heritage, flavor, and craftsmanship.

With this focus on tradition in mind, we’ve roasted this coffee on the lighter side to highlight the bright acidity and complex citrus fruit notes that the coffee-loving world has come to know and love from Rwandan coffees. You’ll find notes of grapefruit and lemon rind floating among the black tea floral savoriness that hangs on your taste buds as you finish your sip. The brightness is held in check by a rounded, medium body balanced by a delicate roasty sweetness akin to a classic chocolate wafer cookie.
