Suggested equipment care if you’ll be shut down for an extended period of time.
We are sending our sincere support for any of you that are closing down for an extended period of time due to the
health concerns affecting our States and Nation. We are hopeful that this will be short lived for us all.
We’d like to offer some suggested ways to ensure the safety and protection of any of your equipment while it may not
be in use during this time. It is especially important to protect any equipment that uses water, or needs high electrical.
Here are a few tips from our service department that will help you protect your equipment and ensure it is ready to fire back up when needed;
– Power down any equipment that may not need to be left on.
This can include items like your Coffee brewer, espresso machine, grinder, blenders, Panini grills and
ovens and similar items. Doing so will protect them from any potential surges, or electrical
fluctuations that may occur while you are not around. It can also offer protection against
possible electrical fire hazards.
– Turn off water supplies to equipment that uses water as a main part of its function
This will for sure include your coffee brewer and espresso machine. You might also want to
consider your ice maker if you have one. This will again protect you from any potential water
hazards or damages that might occur while you are not around.
– Put a note on all equipment that you did turn off the water to
Tape this note over the power buttons on these equipment items stating that the “Water is
off and must be turned back on before powering up this unit”. This will protect equipment like
coffee brewers and espresso machines that use a heating element to heat water from burning
out, if there is not water in the tank. Turning on the water first will ensure the water tank is full
before the heating element is turned on.
– Keep the building at a safe and consistent heat while you are away
This is to ensure that any water in any of your equipment does not freeze. Freeze-thaw cycles
are damaging to equipment that uses water
– Communicate to all staff of any items powdered down and/or water is shut off to
Just communicate with all staff that you have taken these actions and that everything needs to
be powered back up and water turned on before you can return to normal operations.
*** Please note that these are merely suggested ways to protect your equipment. ALWAYS refer to and follow any manufactures recommendations or requirements for use and care of your equipment ***
We hope this is helpful and will ensure you are in great shape and ready to get back into action when everything settles
down. If you have any further equipment or service related questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
